As the name implies, the Nike Power Distance is a long ball. These balls eat meters of fairway for breakfast and roll leisurely across greens for lunch. The Power Distance line of balls by Nike comes in three flavours: Soft, High and Long.
The Soft, as its name implies, has a soft responsive core meant for use by higher handicap golfers with a slower club head speed or for those who prefer a ball that has a softer feel. The low-compression core and soft ionomer cover provide both. The only shortcoming of this ball is the control on the green. Lower spin speeds mean less control on chip shots, which is a liability with this ball.
The Power Distance High was designed for golfers with a mid-range swing speed. The ball’s dimple structure allows for less drag and higher loft, which results in longer distance. The landings roll for more distance on the fairway and while they don’t exactly stick on the green, they suffice quite well for a reasonably priced ball.
The final ball in the Power Distance line-up is the Long. This ball was created for players with a faster swing speed. The high velocity core and dimple pattern help to reduce drag and create distance. For lower handicap players, this ball is an overall ball that’s been designed for long-distance drives and higher control on the greens.
